Kia Ora Tatou WELCOME TO A SUMMER OF SOFTBALL!

Welcome back to competition Softball in the Waikato, with the Senior Men's and Women's Games starting Saturday 8th January. It has been a testing time for all, but on behalf of the WKSA Board, we hope you have had a safe Christmas and New Years and are looking forward to a quick-fire season of Softball, at both Club and Representative level.

The Board have created a karakia/takutaku which will be used to open and close all Board Meetings. We offer this here, as we begin our season:

Takutaku – mō te Poari WKSA
Tākiri te mana o tuawhakarere
kia tau ki te papa takaro.
Te ihi, te wehi, te wana o ngā tūpuna,
tōtoki taitama wahine,
tōtoki taitama tāne,
kia ū, kia mau, kia ita.
Ko ngā ohu, hāpaitia!
Kia tika te paetawhiti,
Kia tau te paetata.
Ko te whānau, hikitia!
Matua rā ko te wairua manaaki.
Whano, whano, tau mai te mauri
Haumie, hui e
Tāiki e!

We call upon those who established and gave service to
the mana of Waikato Softball through the years to be with us.
Their skill, wisdom, strength and tenacity we instil in our
players and those who give service to the game of
softball here in the Waikato.
To those who serve the game, elevate the game with the
best interests of the game at the heart of your decisions.
As whānau, let us continue to support the game,
those who play it, and those that make it happen.
Through excellence of skill and character, caring for the game we love.
Working together.
NB. The English is the assertion of intent captured in the takutaku and not a translation.
